Meet Me!

My name is Joanne McCabe. At age 11, I felt the buzz of singing at my first wedding. I was hooked! Since then, I have soaked up every performance related experience – training, exams, competing, leading choirs & teaching all ages to recording projects, composition projects and featuring in concerts, operas and musicals all over Ireland & beyond. This true balance of study & stage experience has led to countless discoveries that influence my teaching style.

Shaping my approaches further are my First Class Honours Degree in Early Childhood Studies, my RIAM Diploma in Community & Group Music Teaching and becoming a certified Vocal Health First Aider.

Having worked with numerous music & stage schools, I launched Colla Voce in 2014 with a dream of helping others find their true voice in whatever way they needed to.  I continue to learn, explore and be fascinated by music & our impressive vocal system. My love of storytelling & people can flourish through the arts. At the core of my teaching is connection, whether with adult or child and from there, goals can follow.

About Colla Voce

Music, Voice & Arts Discovery

Colla Voce is an Italian music term translating as ‘with the voice’. When used, the composer has mandated that the vocalist be allowed freedom – in terms of tempo, rhythm or emotional connection & orchestra must follow. The singer takes their moment! This encapsulated my desire to help musicians discover their voice and allow it freedom to develop, often exceeding their own expectations of capability or personal growth.

Colla Voce is for everyone. We aim to be a high-quality bespoke music school experience where the process comes before the product, the person before the music. The key component is enjoyment. From interest comes progress, whether that is to perform a lead role or be a better shower singer!

Ethos: To help the client find inner confidence through the arts. For clients to leave class mentally lighter than they entered. To promote a holistic approach, adapting to the clients natural learning style – visual, kinesthetic or auditory.  To provide an encouraging creative space for them to discover all their voice can do.

Colla Voce students have had many performance awards, distinctions & competition wins. Many regularly perform lead roles in musicals, concerts, & pantomimes throughout the country. Others have gone on to study music & performance paths at 3rd level institutions including IMT, UCD, UL, BIMM, Maynooth & SETU.

Whatever your level, whatever your wish –join us if you want to explore what you are capable of!
